The ‘Middle East Retail Academy (MERA): 2011 Awards’ will celebrate the development of the region’s retail channel, identifying the vendors that have successfully engaged with the retail channel and developed win-win relationships with partners. The Awards will also identify the best-in-class retailers and distributors in the region. Special awards for outstanding contribution by retail and vendor executives also form part of the awards ceremony.

A total of 30 awards will be presented during the Gala Dinner, which takes place in association with DCC MEA (www.dcc-mea.com) in Fujairah, UAE, on Wednesday May 18th. There are 14 awards allocated to vendors, 13 categories for retailers, 2 for retail distributors plus 2 special achievement awards for individuals that will be inducted into the MERA Hall of Fame.

More than 400 senior executives, representing retailers and vendors from across the region will attend the 2011 event. With many of the awards decided through live electronic voting, the ceremony is an exciting occasion for all involved. The MERA Awards were launched in 2008, creating a clear and transparent platform to recognise excellence in the region’s consumer electronics and ICT channel, with awards for vendors, distributors and retailers. The awards are held in conjunction with DCC MEA, where pre-qualified ICT and CE retail executives from across the Middle East market have the opportunity to review the latest products from the 50-plus vendors attending this year’s event. With retailers from 15-plus countries across the MEA region attending DCC MEA, the event offers vendors insight into markets across the region and the opportunity to accelerate or improve their go-to-market retail strategy.

The ‘MERA: 2011 Awards’ are built on an independent vendor neutral platform. These awards represent the ultimate accolade for vendors, retailers and distributors and will showcase the wealth of professional talent that exists in the Middle East retail channel.

The feedback for the MERA Awards 2010 was overwhelmingly positive, but we have also acted on the suggestions of participating vendors and retailers. This has seen the introduction of new award categories and changes to the voting procedures.
